This holy instant would I give to you.
Be You in charge. For I would follow You.
Certain that Your direction gives me peace.
And if I need a word to help me, He will give it to me. If I need a thought, that He will also give. And if I need but stillness and a tranquil, open mind, these are the gifts I will receive of Him. He is in charge by my request. And He will hear and answer me, because He speaks for God my Father and His holy Son.
And so the end is here, and I face the final curtain. This is the last lesson of the year, a project I began to help me with the discipline of writing every day. How amazing that on this last day I watched the movie Julia and Julia about a blogger who blogged every day for the same reason. Her food blog got made into a movie.
Today WordPress send me the stats for the blog. Nearly 4000 people read it over the year, the greatest readership was in Austria (about 1,900) and the UK (about 1,700) The rest was split between 42 other countries from Austraila, Canada and the US to The Caribbean, Iceland, Finland, Brazil and Pakistan. I am amazed as I didn’t ever use tags. Although not many people commented quite a number contacted me by email to let me know how helpful they found some of the lessons. Some people read them during low moments and found solace. Some people used it as a way of tracking what I was doing and were inspired to keep going with their own projects.
So, something that was meant to bring discipline to my life has helped other to do the same. It’s given me a desire to continue but I’m not sure what I’ll be blogging about next year. One thing I know is that it won’t be every day, as I have a heavy writing schedule ahead this year. I intend to finish the parenting book and to write the accompanying course. I have at least seven other books in my head, all with voices impatient to be heard.
Today I had the loveliest compliment – one of my readers said the last story in my last book made him cry. He said I was a real story teller, at which point I nearly cried, because that’s what I’ve always wanted to be. I feel I’ve grown in confidence as a writer and I’m feeling very excited about next year. I’m being offered a few collaborative projects but need to stay focused on my primary goals of writing books.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR.
