Becoming a numerologist

Connaissance School of Numerology course brochure Connaissance School of Numerology course brochure

It felt like I was pulled to the Tree of Life Festival at the weekend – despite my reluctance to make it a priority. Having applied twice for a free ticket and not been successful I’d put it out of my mind. Very late on Friday night I realised I had, indeed, been granted a free ticket.

Exhausted from the night before I didn’t make it till after midday – but it didn’t matter because the people I’d been drawn there to see were not speaking till the Sunday.

Listening to Nicolas David Ngan talk about using numbers to decode your soul contract using your birth name (i.e. on on your birth certificate) was fascinating.

But it was Sonia Ducie and her use of numerology to analyse dreams that drew me to the training courses offered by the Connaissance School of Numerology.

Black Blood Runs Red

Hard to believe this time last week I was at the launch of this year’s Birmingham Black History Month.

Motherland Calling: Black Blood Runs Red

Motherland Calling: Black Blood Runs Red

It was also the launch of Vanley Burke’s photographic exhibition Freedom or Death charting the final days of the apartheid era in South Africa. The exhibition is on till 7th November and is well worth a visit.

After the drinks reception and the speeches we were treated to a dramatised World War One experience. ‘Motherland Calling! Black Blood Runs Red looked at the untold story of the millions of black African, Caribbean and Asian soldiers who died in World War One.

There are still plenty of events and exhibitions to see and experience in the next few weeks. Please check the listings link.

Happy birthday to me

2014-09-20 05.06.40

I want to thank everyone who helped to make my birthday very special. Thanks for the cards, for the presents, for the drinks, for the Facebook comments, for the dinner, for the drinks for the lunches, for the emails, for the drinks, for the impromptu book reading, for the food, for the company and dare I mention – for the drinks. It started on Friday and finished on Tuesday. I have wonderful family and friends. Thank you all.

Only complaint is that the music was too loud. It was more like eating in a night club, not conducive to discussion.

Inspired by Lillian at the Rotary Club

On Tuesday night I attended my first ever Rotary Club meeting as a guest of Pam Neaves (she who designs my book covers).

I was absolutely blown away by a lady to whom a presentation was being made. Lillian Hopkins at 97 is the oldest member of the women’s arm of the Rotary Club, known as Inner Wheel.

Not only is she active in the Wylde Green branch of the Rotary Club, she still travels to South Africa every year to support a number of charities; and to top it all she was wearing a dress I quite fancied myself.

Our meeting this month saw a film crew arrive to film our contribution to the Birmingham Literary Festival in October. Instead of a performance lasting a couple of hours we will, this year, be captured in film.

Geoff and Jacob (film and sound experts) recorded us as we shared our work in the Stageside Restaurant, before taking us outside for still shots.

Upfront Comedy

Hard to believe that this time last week I was getting dressed to go to the start of the comedy season at the Drum in Aston. I needed a laugh so badly, and the three comics didn’t disappoint.

Biography

Late summer flowers in Cannon Hill Park Late summer flowers in Cannon Hill Park

I may be venturing into new writing territory. I was asked today to consider writing a biography. From fictional stories to real life ones. Interesting. Anyone out there with experience of biography willing to offer me some advice?

I need to do a Shamanic journey to seek some guidance on this – feels a little outside of my comfort zone.
